Stone Cold Steve Austin Talks About CM Punk, If He Would Have Done MMA, Which Wrestlers Could Do MMA

WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared on this week's Inside MMA and spoke with host Bas Rutten about a variety of subjects. Austin also touched on CM Punk, both in the ring and in the cage.

Rutten prodded Austin about his constantly rumored return to the ring, and how Austin had said multiple times that a match and feud with CM Punk would be ideal.

"I like what he brings to the ring. Very controlled, very precise, great psychology. Half of the battle is being in an angle that grabs people and gets them in the building. CM Punk cuts a great promo. Him spinning off me, me spinning off him, that means money," Austin said.

Austin isn't sure if CM Punk will have a successful MMA run, but he said he remains supportive. Austin was also seen attending UFC events during Brock Lesnar's MMA run.

"It remains to be seen. I'll be cheering for him. It's not like we're best friends, but I'll be wishing him well," Austin said. "I'll be real excited to see his debut."

Although Austin was past his physical prime and a little too beat up to compete in MMA during his wrestling career, Rutten asked if it was something Austin would have been interested in. Austin is admittedly a huge MMA fan.

"Had the sport been more evolved like it is now and I had the killer instinct like in my football days. I had the mindset for it, but who knows if I could have adapted the skill set and training. I turned out to be a good football player and a great pro wrestler. I found the right calling," Austin said.

With the likes of Ken Shamrock, Bobby Lashley, CM Punk and Brock Lesnar making the move between wrestling and MMA, Austin also spoke on others who would have been successful in both fields.

"If it's another day and age, Kurt Angle would have been a guy. I don't know how the Undertaker would have done, but he's a huge fan so you have to throw him in there," Austin said.
