Impact Wrestling Results (1/28): Michael Elgin Vs. Eddie Edwards, Number One Contender's Match

Commentators Josh Mathews and Don Callis welcome fans to a new episode of Impact Wrestling. The first match is announced!

Josh Alexander (w/Ethan Page) vs. Vikingo

Alexander pushes Vikingo towards the ropes. Vikingo fights back. Alexander with a takedown. Vikingo gets up and plants a step-up enziguri, knocking Alexander's mouthguard out. Vikingo rolls through the middle rope, Alexander on the outside moves out of the way in time. Alexander throws Vikingo back in the ring. Alexander corners Vikingo and kicks him. Vikingo gets out of the corner, walks across the top rope, flies off, and locks Alexander's arm. Alexander lifts Vikingo up and powerbombs him, followed by a vertical suplex. He goes for the cover and Vikingo kicks out at 2. Vikingo with a dropkick off the second rope, flies over the top rope and lands on Alexander who's on the outside, again. Vikingo climbs on top of the barricade, jumps over the fans, and lands a moonsault. Both men are back in the ring. Vikingo with double knees on Alexander. He climbs to the top rope, lands a 450 splash on Alexander, cover, Alexander kicks out at 2. Vikingo goes for a rana, Alexander counters by lifting Vikingo up and slamming him down on the mat with another powerbomb. Next, Alexander goes for a double arm hook. He grabs hold of Vikingo and climbs to the second rope. Vikingo reverses it into a hurricanrana. Vikingo pins Alexander, and wins the match!

Winner: Vikingo

Backstage: Gabby Loren is standing outside the women's locker room to speak to Taya Valkyrie. Valkyrie is not too happy that Jordynne Grace added herself to the number one contender's match for the Knockouts Championship. She says that she will be watching this match very closely tonight.

Earlier today, Moose sits down and talks about his match from last week. He begins by saying that he doesn't make any excuses about anything. But, he says the reason he lost to Taurus last week was because of Rhino. He says if Rhino gets in his way tonight during his one-on-one match with Taurus, he'll kick his a**.

Up next, a tag team matchup!

Rascalz vs. Pagano and Murder Clown

Wentz and Murder Clown begin the match. Clown with a press, Wentz counters with a rana. Wentz gets up and tags in Dez. Dez sends Clown flying. Clown tags in Pagano. Dez rolls Pagano, Pagano counters with an inside-out, followed by a neckbreaker. Both men get up. Pagano lands multiple chops. Dez tags in Wentz. Pagano flies through the ropes after Clown grabs hold of both Rascalz members' feet and sends them to the outside. Back in the ring, Pagano lands a right hand on Wentz. Wentz Irish Whips Pagano into Clown on the opposite side. Both Pagano and Clown work together and send Wentz down. Rascalz are both on the middle rope, they send Clown down on to the mat with a superplex. Wentz with a swanton, Dez goes for the cover on Clown, Clown doesn't kick out. The Rascalz pick up the win!

Backstage: Michael Elgin says he doesn't need these best of five series matches to beat Eddie Edwards. He recalls the multiple matches he's already beaten him in. He's looking forward to their first match tonight!

Moose makes his way to the ring for his singles match!

Moose vs. Taurus

The fans all chant in unison "Taurus, Taurus." Moose is not too happy about that. Moose lands a few chops and tries to shoulder tackle Taurus, but Taurus doesn't flinch. Taurus with an open hand chop. Taurus with a wheel kick off the top rope. Taurus sends Moose flying out of the ring. Moose sends Taurus towards the ring post. Moose goes over and tries to land another chop. Taurus moves out of the way in time and Moose's hand hits the ring post. They both make their way back in the ring. Moose with a foot choke, gets a loud boo from the crowd. Moose sends Taurus towards the turnbuckles. Taurus escapes out of the corner, plants a 619 and then a sling blade. Taurus with the cover, Moose kicks out. Taurus with a combination. Moose ends the match with a spear, cover, Moose wins the match.

Post-Match: Rhino sneaks into the ring. As Moose turns around, Rhino lands a Gore!

Backstage: Eddie Edwards chimes in after Elgin's comments from earlier tonight. Edwards says that when they start their series match tonight, he says to watch the scoreboard, because he's going to win them all.

Next, the Impact Plus Moment of the Week is shown. It's Kurt Angle vs. James Storm.

After the Impact Plus Moment, Loren is interviewing Joey Ryan. Loren informs Ryan about what Rob Van Dam said about him last week. Ryan thinks that RVD is a little threatened because he sees how Katie Forbes looks at "it."

Valkyrie and John E. Bravo make their way to the announce table. The number one contenders match for the Impact Knockouts Championship is next!

Madison Rayne vs. Kiera Hogan vs. Jordynne Grace

Rayne and Hogan send Grace into the corner. Grace plants a DDT on Hogan. Grace with the cover on Hogan, Hogan kicks out. Grace goes over and covers Rayne, Rayne kicks out. Grace grabs hold of Rayne. Hogan helps Rayne down. Rayne steps out of the ring, but turns around and heads back in. Rayne puts Grace in a headlock. Hogan fights free and elbows Hogan. Rayne with a boot to the side of Grace's face. Rayne holds on to Grace while Hogan kicks her. Grace sends Rayne to the turnbuckle. Graces run towards Rayne and Rayne gets out of the way. Rayne and Hogan both try to cover Grace, but the referee won't make the count. Hogan and Rayne with back-and-forth back kicks on Grace. Grace gets Hogan in the Grace Driver. Grace covers Hogan and wins the match. She is now the number one contender for the Knockouts Championship!

Winner: Jordynne Grace

Backstage: Ace Austin gives fans a little "history lesson." He talks about how he retained the X-Division Championship against Trey at Hard To Kill. Then, he talks about beating Trey and Tessa Blanchard last week. He's ready to square up against them again soon.

Backstage: Johnny Swinger is telling Willie Mack that they need to become a cohesive unit. Mack has no idea what he is talking about. He finds him to be a creepy dude. He says he was cool in ECW, but not now. Before he leaves, Mack says Rich Swann is his tag partner, no one else will take his place.

Backstage: Fallah Bahh shows off his new ring gear to TJP. TJP informs Bahh about his match that is set for next week.

Reno Scum vs. DAGA & Dr. Wagner Jr. (w/Galeno del Mal)

DAGA and Adam Thornstowe start the match. DAGA goes for a step-up rana. Thornstowe tags in Luster The Legend. DAGA tags in Dr. Wagner Jr. Wagner and Luster lock up. Luster pushes Wagner over to the opposite side. Luster grabs Wagner and slams him down on the mat. Luster goes for the cover, Wagner kicks out at 2. Wagner tags in DAGA. DAGA catches Thornstowe on the apron and sends him to the floor. Thornstowe gets back up and tags himself in. Thornstowe with a quick tag to Luster. Thornstowe strikes Wagner off the apron. DAGA goes off the back of Thornstowe. Luster steps in and DAGA lands a short DDT. DAGA crawls over and tags in Wagner. Wagner with a dragon screw on Thornstowe. DAGA is back inside the ring. He flies over the top rope with a corkscrew dive on Luster. Luster comes back in the ring and lands a spinebuster on DAGA. Wagner flies off the apron and lands right on top of Luster. DAGA ends the match and picks up the win.

Winner: DAGA & Dr. Wagner Jr.

Post-Match: oVe (minus Sami Callihan) make their way to the ring and take out DAGA, Dr. Wagner Jr. and Wagner's son.

Backstage: Suzie is walking around the boiler room and Rosemary makes an appearance. Rosemary is trying to recruit Suzie. Suzie says that she is in for this "friendly exhibition" that Rosemary invites her to attend. Their story will continue next week!

And now, the main event!

Michael Elgin vs. Eddie Edwards (Best of 5 Series)

The match begins with a standing switch up. Edwards wastes no time and locks in a crossface submission. Elgin climbs over to the bottom rope and gets a rope break. On the outside, Elgin goes for a suplex, Edwards reverses out of it. Elgin grabs Edwards and slams him into the barricade. Their match will continue after the commercial break.

Back from the break, Elgin sends Edwards to the corner. Elgin runs towards Edwards, but Edwards puts his foot up in time. Edwards gets out of the corner and plants Elgin with a blue thunder bomb. Edwards flips Elgin over and locks in the half-crab. Elgin and Edwards are up on their feet. Elgin counters, and drops Edwards right on his head. Elgin keeps going with a shot to the back of Edwards' neck. Elgin with the cover, Edwards kicks out. Both men exchange forearms. Elgin breaks it up with a superkick. Edwards fires back with a left-hand lariat, followed by a tiger bomb. Edwards covers and Elgin kicks out in time. Elgin grabs hold of Edwards and sends him down on the mat with a death valley piledriver. Elgin goes for a cover, and Edwards kicks out. Elgin is furious. He locks in a headlock. The referee notices that Edwards is fading. The referee calls for the match to end. Elgin picks up the first win in the series.
